Many people experience depression at some point in their lives. It can make us feel alone and isolated but, in fact, more than 350 million people across the world suffer from its effects.
Looking for support is the first step to finding relief and moving forward, and there are many other ways to ease our minds when we feel depressed.
Depression and a lack of self-esteem can be difficult barriers to socialisation and a positive self-image.
I provide a safe, non-judgmental environment in which to explore your feelings around depression. We will focus on learning that can easily be integrated into real life for effective results, with techniques that are designed to have real positive change.
Individual sessions are delivered 1-2-1 and run for 12 consecutive weeks, with each session lasting for 1 1/2 hours.
Depression comes from the Latin word 'deprimere' meaning to 'press down'
Being in a depressed state, can decrease our feelings of self-worth and increase our sense of self-doubt and anxiety. When we have a sense that we unable to alter our mood, we can feel trapped, isolated and unable to move forward. Seeking a new relationship may then feel like something we simply cannot face when we are feeling this low.
Our Overcoming Depression module takes an in-depth look at depression and the factors that trigger it. We work on beliefs and negative thinking, as well the importance of a healthy social life. Our self-image and personal appearance also play a huge role in how we feel, and our homes and environments often mirror our feelings inside.
This module is a chance to move past depression and learn how to manage this condition which can so easily stop us from reaching for the life we want.
